Ancient Artisan Yunnan Black Tea leaves are plucked from 500-800 year-old tea trees in Pu’er of Yunnan Province. Their farmers retain traditional techniques of growing, hand-harvesting, and processing tea, knowledge that has been passed down for generations. Through their human touch, these black tea leaves emit an intense, fruity aroma and produce a dark sanguine, glassy liquor.

Black tea, sourced from the Camellia sinensis plant, is produced via a series of withering, rolling, oxidizing, and drying. Through oxidation and further processing, tea leaves transform into a dark maroon, burgundy shade and accent a variety of health benefits and properties.

Inheriting the craft of his lineage, Artisan Tian Zhi is a third-generation tea farmer with a passion for growing ancient tea trees. He and his family silently guard the mountains of Yunnan to produce and hand-harvest tea leaves from their private land. Tian Zhi uses the surrounding temperature and humidity to his advantage when oxidizing tea leaves. As a master of black and white tea, Tian Zhi is able to draw out and heighten a tea’s finest properties. Read more about his story here.
