Ancient Artisan Moonlight White Tea leaves are produced much like any other white tea – minimal oxidation and drying. The key difference between Wild Artisan Moonlight White Tea and Ancient Artisan Moonlight White Tea stems from their cultivation technique (ie. wild trees vs. ancient trees). Wild trees are cultivated by means of seed, allowing trees to mutate and adapt to its environment over time. Meanwhile, ancient trees are cultivated by means of transplantation via cutting, allowing trees not to mutate but instead retain the consistent quality and taste of their ancestors.

Inheriting the craft of his lineage, Artisan Tian Zhi is a third-generation tea farmer with a passion for growing ancient tea trees. He and his family silently guard the mountains of Yunnan to produce and hand-harvest tea leaves from their private land. Tian Zhi uses the surrounding temperature and humidity to his advantage when oxidizing tea leaves. As a master of black and white tea, Tian Zhi is able to draw out and heighten a tea’s finest properties. Read more about his story here.
